Some Ruff Competition Dogsports
Some Ruff Competition is involved in all sorts of dogsports: NAFA Flyball, Sheep Herding, Lure Coursing, Obedience and Conformation. As one of the oldest clubs involved in Flyball racing, our members come from all over Southern Ontario and know all too well, the line about Old Age and Treachery.
Rythm - Personal Best of 3.491, over a dozen 3.5's and consistently in the low 3.6's
No Speed Limit's Swimmer's Turn-ament - June 12 and 13th, 2010
SRC is going on a road trip to West Friendship, Maryland for a weekend of racing in horse country, just west of Baltimore. Glenn has a judging gig and Rythm will get to see his son Pesto debut in Flyball. Our newbies, August, rV and Shuffle, will get to play and we'll get to see a new part of the Flyball world. We will miss Caledonia for the first time since 1991 but heck, Pesto only has one debut.
Spirit Catchers - Flower Power - May 15 and 16th, 2010
Summer is here! SRC had a great weekend of racing, camping, celebrating and getting out to Grand Valley. It was big weekend for Cheryl Lewis and Mi-Lou. Lou is back racing at her best and this weekend earned her Onyx award. Rob Sparling earned another birthday cake and then went out and ran a half marathon on Sunday morning. 20K! Then he came back in time to finish racing with Taco on Sunday afternoon. Rob must really like Black Forest cake.
Thanks Spirit Catchers! The flowers have been planted and we'll look to filling up the garden with some more rosettes next year.
All About Pets Show - April 2-4, 2010
03/28/2010Today's newsletter includes all of the information in the earlier Welcome Letter plus a whole lot more. Make careful note of wristband restrictions, access to the vendor area (not before 10AM when the show opens), team fact sheets and all of the other things that your team needs to know.
03/27/2010Scheduling is now complete and approved. Yeah! Schedules for all 3 days are available in worksheet format by clicking here . We'll have one more newsletter coming up in the next 48 hours and available here, but please remember, there is no double running at this event.
03/18/2010Team names have adjusted per your requests and the seeding links below have been updated. Our welcome letter is now available in pdf format by clicking here or if you prefer a .doc format, click here.
03/15/2010Originally sanctioned for 60 spots, we received 155 entries for these little tournaments. With such a large number of entries, we went back to the show to see if could get some more floor time so we could expand each event to 25 teams from the original 20. This means that racing will begin each day at 8:00AM to accommodate the 10 additional races per day. Since this is two hours before the show opens to the public, it is a perfect time to work out any kinks with your "green" dogs!
The seeding for all three days has been approved and we are beginning the scheduling tasks. Seeding is now available in pdf format by clicking on Friday or Saturday or Sunday . For those of you who are "visual" here is a colourful version of all three days.
From all of us on SRC, thank you for your support!
Unleashed - FidoMania - Feb. 6, 2010
02/06/2010If was great to return to racing after being off since the Can-Am. The one-day events hosted by Unleashed, are a great way for us to ease back into racing. All of our club, both dogs and handlers, came away fully energized for a great year of racing. Of course, getting a First and a Second helped too!
NAFA Can-AM Classic - Indianapolis IN - Oct. 2-4, 2009
10/04/2009We know it's all been said, but this was the best Flyball event of the year! With almost 400 entries over three days, it was THE place to be. The opportunity to meet those other teams from afar, to renew old friendships, to meet your dog's relatives (there was lots of that action happening)and to race your best were what we all came for.
SRC was going to be a little short-handed at Indy so we entered an Open and a Regular team. This allowed us to invite some friends from Quebec and Michigan to join us in Open. Our Bilingual team fared very well winning Division One Open for two of the three days and finishing second on the third. Guylaine and Spouky, Marie-Josee and Soya and Bubba from Slammers rounded out our Open team which clocked a best of 16.36!
Our Regular team wasn't ready to battle for the Can-Am final ... yet ... LOL, but we kept building on each day's successes. By the end of Sunday, we had secured the Division 5 win and a great set of trophies
We'll be back in 2010 for sure!
